In June 2006, New Music Arts Projects presents soundaXis,
a city-wide festival celebrating architecture, music
and acoustics that will transform Toronto into a playground
of sound and space exploration. For two weeks, the city
will be alive with concerts, interdisciplinary installations,
symposia, screenings and site-specific musical events.
Timed to coincide with the City of Toronto’s “TO
Live with Culture” and celebrate the burst of architectural
development
that begins its debut in 2006 (the Art Gallery of Ontario,
the Royal Ontario Museum, the Opera House, and
the Royal Conservatory of Music), soundaXis will offer a new
way to look, listen and experience Toronto.
Events will be held across the city, presented
and hosted by many of Toronto’s most innovative arts
organizations. The popularity and accessibility of music and
architecture is sure to attract a broad public, including
visitors from near and far.
soundaXis in 2006 is the first of what is
intended to be a recurring festival and is the beginning
of an ongoing interdisciplinary effort with New Music
as the vital link between modes of creative cultural
composition and expression.
